Vid: Hodge Brothers on Leverage, Cougartown & Their Fave Cougars

“StarCam’s Jennifer Tapiero came out to the College Television Awards where she caught up with Edwin and Aldis Hodge. The brothers filled her in on all of their recent projects and even dished on their favorite Hollywood cougars. Oh, and good news for the ladies out there. Aldis is very single!”

Leverage: Beth Reisgraf teases Parker/Hardison relationship treats

By Jenna Busch   April 1, 2012 2:06 AM ET

“Leverage” star Beth Reisgraf hit the red carpet at the 33rd College Televison Awards and we got a chance to talk about the new season. She says shippers will be happy and so will people who want more Eliot (Christian Kane).

“We’ve got some fun stuff,” she says. “The season opener starts off with a bang as usual. I think fans are going to be really excited, especially the ones who have been anticipating a relationship between Hardison (Aldis Hodge) and Parker. They’re going to get a few treats. And people who have been craving more Eliot back story are going to be happy. All around the team has found their groove and now we’re going to get little bits of candy.”

The show has moved to the actual city it’s supposed to be set in. “We have this new headquarters this year,” she tells us. “The show takes place in Portland and we’re shooting there. The rain has been tricky for us. It was actually hailing the other day. ”

Reisgraf tells us that the cast just loves to goof off. “We have these chairs in Headquarters that sink when you push the lever. During a scene Tim (Hutton) will hit the lever and you just drop in the middle of the scene. We have to be goofy sometimes to keep it fresh.”

“Leverage” returns to TNT on July 15.

Leverage Season Finale Review: Send In The Backups

Leverage Season Finale Review: Send In The Backups

January 16th, 2012 1:23 AM by

The season four finale of Leverage, “The Last Dam Job,” really made me want more of the team, especially to see them with their “backups.” Thankfully, we’ll get at least part of that when the show returns this summer for season five.

While it’s not new that Nate and his squad brought down a bad guy (in this case it was Latimer and Victor), what made this episode unique from other takedowns was the interaction of the team members with their counterparts. I loved it!

Nate Confronts Victor

Watching Quinn (Clayne Crawford) and Chaos (Wil Wheaton) attempting to work together with Quinn wanting to hurt Chaos – while the latter spoke down to Quinn as he explained the way they were going to break into the computer – was refreshingly funny and brought back memories of season one.

The sudden appearance of Maggie Collins (Kari Matchett), Nate’s ex-wife, was also welcome. Actually, I want to give kudos to TNT for not showing her in the preview and giving us all a nice surprise when she sat down next to Latimer. Did any else catch her reference to Jim Sterling and her attraction to him? I wonder about the chances that Sterling and Maggie have seen each other again.

By far, it was Richard Chamberlain who stole the show as Archie Leach. I laughed so hard when he tazzered Chaos that I had to pause the show for a minute to wipe my eyes. Then, when he and Parker had the heart-to-heart about how he approved of Hardison, and she cared, it was really sweet.

Speaking of touching and sweet, how awesome was Eliot in his protectiveness of Nate?!? Between him trying to talk Nate out of killing Victor/Latimer to him nearly killing Victor himself, he showed how strongly he cares for Nate.

Many may think that the conclusion with Latimer was a bit rushed; to me it felt like it matched about how often we met him, so I didn’t mind at all. Honestly, I’m glad it’s done and I’m looking forward to this summer to see what Nate and the team gets into.

I do have some questions as we go into season five:

  • When Nate says he has to make some changes, does that mean he is climbing out of the bottle?
  • Why can’t they keep the cave? I like the idea of an “Eliot Signal.”
  • Besides, don’t we still have some other bad guys out there wanting a piece of Nate?

Beth Riesgraf on Sunday’s Leverage finale and moving the team to Portland

Published: Sunday, January 15, 2012, 2:12 PM     Updated: Sunday, January 15, 2012, 2:55 PM

Beth Riesgraf, who plays Parker, the quirky cat burglar, in “Leverage,” says Sunday’s season 4 finale will set the stage for the team moving operations to Portland.

On Sunday night’s season 4 finale, the “Leverage” team has a showdown with the mysterious Latimer (Leon Rippy), and a foe from their past.

Portlanders should make a special effort to either watch or DVR Sunday night’s episode, “The Last Dam Job,” because this is the one that sets up the team relocating their base of operations from Boston to Portland.

While this makes sense as a practical matter — the TNT show has filmed in Portland since season 2 — it will require some narrative reason.

Beth Riesgraf, who plays the quirky cat burglar Parker on “Leverage,” says the finale will make it clear why Nate Ford (Timothy Hutton) and the rest of the crew are pulling up stakes and heading to the Northwest.

In a phone interview, Riesgraf says other points of interest in the finale are the return of some familiar characters from previous episodes, including those played by Wil Wheaton and Richard Chamberlain.

“In the season finale, you sense some closure,” says Riesgraf. “And it will make sense to fans why the ‘Leverage’ troupe needs to change home base.”

The “Leverage” gang traveled to Portland in the recent episode, “The Gold Job,” taking down a crooked brother-sister duo running a cash-for-gold scam. Will there be some connection between that episode and the team moving to Portland?

“I think so,” Riesgraf says, teasingly. But she won’t reveal any more details, so as not to spoil the surprise.

Fans of “Leverage,” says Riesgraf, “will be anticipating the next season based on how this one ends.” There will be developments in the characters, and in how they relate to each other. “I’m really interested to see where Nathan Ford goes,” says Riesgraf. “It was such a dramatic finale for him personally. I’m also hoping to see more action for Parker.”

Speaking of relationships, what’s in store in season 5 for Parker and Hardison (Aldis Hodge), whose connection has grown stronger in season 4?

“I think they’ve both come to the understanding that they mean a great deal to one another, and this is a first for them in many ways,” says Riesgraf. “(Parker) has learned to trust that. She was leery at first. But she’s formed a bond with (Hardison) that’s different than the others. They’re secure in knowing that they have something special.”

Fans ask, Riesgraf says, when Parker and Hardison will get together. “I think there’s sort of an unspoken idea that they are together. They’re not like your average, everyday person. They’re not going to go off and get married. In terms of where they are right now, they’ve found what works for them. They sort of teeter-totter. I think it’s nice to see the two of them figure things out.”

The Parker-Hardison connection is different, Riesgraf says, from the way Nate and Sophie (Gina Bellman) are together. “The two of them together are genius,” says Riesgraf. “Their chemistry is so great and they have this mature understanding of what’s happening.”

PopMatters Awards Aldis for Best TV Performance as 2011’s Liveliest Unleashed Hacker

The Best TV Performances of 2011
By Michael Abernethy 12 January 2012

The past year saw TV expand its reality horizon, featuring pig herders and people addicted to eating toilet paper or detergent. If watching rednecks catch alligators wasn’t your thing, though, reality TV offered up a slew of new talent competitions, insuring that more singers and groups will have 15 minutes of fame before their CDs wind up in the $1.99 discount bin. In 2011, only J. R. Martinez actually became a star, and who can complain about that?

It grew increasingly difficult to be a loyal series fan this year, as more programs saw their seasons hacked into multiple mini-seasons. This created confusion about when favorite shows were on and provided us all with the opportunity to enjoy a new cliffhanger every week.

Aldis Hodge in Leverage

Aldis Hodge wins 2011’s Liveliest Unleashed Hacker on TV Award, for his work on Leverage. Though the show isn’t a comedy, Hodge’s Alec got out from behind his computer more this season, giving him something more to do than spout witticisms through his headpiece.

Leverage’s fourth season – The good, the bad and the promising

Only one episode left until ‘Leverage’s’ fourth season finale. The viewers on the CliqueClack team weigh in on how they think it’s going and what next week might have in store for us.

Debbie:

I’ve really been enjoying this second half of Leverage‘s fourth season. “The Office Job” was so well-played on all fronts that I can’t believe I didn’t write about it. Then, the “Girls’ Night Out Job” followed by the “Boys’ Night Out Job” were tons of fun. The writers are trying some different things this season, and for me, it’s working to breathe some new life into ths series that was near-perfect in season one and
