“Leverage” – Hacking Has Never Looked So Sexy
A hacker, a grifter, and a thief are among the gritty-but-likeable stars of “Leverage,” TNT’s hit series, which returns for a fourth season on Sunday, June 26 at 9 p.m. ET/ 8 p.m. CT. The modern-day Robin Hood tale is a fast-paced, light-hearted caper drama series featuring a motley crew of five con artists whose collective aim is to get back at those who have wronged others. Each character has a specialty–mastermind, hitter, and the aforementioned thief and grifter–and let’s not forget the sexy-nerd hacker Aldis Hodge (Alec Hardison), whose high-tech geekiness is crucial to helping his team successfully complete the con and get the mark in each episode.
The “Leverage” crew is led on-screen by their mastermind, former insurance investigator-turned-thief Nathan Ford (Academy Award winner Timothy Hutton). The team also relies heavily on whiz kid Hodge’s technological know-how in circumstances where they need someone to plant a bug, decode a computer, or create a new identity. Rather than bring down a government mainframe just for hell of it, Hodge works to make things right for those hurt by others’ evil ways. However, the hacker pro and his team are put to the test in the season premiere, set in the rugged mountains of Alaska.
It’s refreshing to see a TV show step away from the glasses-wearing-nerd stereotype – as Hodge likes to say, “It’s the age of the geek, baby!”
