Amazon’s new pilots released: Judge for yourself
By James Hibberd on Feb 6, 2014
Amazon has released online its second wave of pilots for potential new shows, once again bringing democracy to pilot season.
Feedback from viewers will help determine which shows will become full-fledged series. Viewers can watch them for free if they’re Amazon Prime members. Projects include X Files creator Chris Carter’s new show The After and a detective drama based on Michael Connelly’s popular Harry Bosch novels. Below are the official descriptions of the adult-targeted shows from Amazon. For more thoughts on this subject, see our previous post on whether regular TV networks should follow Amazon’s lead — should everybody open up the pilot process for online judgement? Put another way: Would Dads and Sean Saves the World had ever seen the light of day if the Internet saw them before they popped up in primetime?
Written and directed by Emmy-nominee Chris Carter (The X-Files) executive produced by Marc Rosen of Georgeville Television and produced by Gabe Rotter, The After follows eight strangers who are thrown together by mysterious forces and must help each other survive in a violent world that defies explanation. Aldis Hodge, Andrew Howard, Arielle Kebbel,Jamie Kennedy, Sharon Lawrence, Jaina Lee Ortiz, Adrian Pasdar, and Louise Monot star in the pilot.
